About us.
Hugo and Kendra met in an ice cream store in New York City. After years in NYC and traveling the globe with Cirque du Soleil, they are now in Vancouver, BC raising a family while living their greenest life possible!
Hugo grew up on a farm in Brasília, Brazil. He spent years living in Japan then made his way to NYC. After earning an MBA from the University of Glasgow, he received professional chef training from the Natural Gourmet Institute in NYC. His dishes are inspired by his Brazilian Japanese heritage and his childhood experience of crafting meals with seasonal ingredients hand picked from the farm. Hugo is an avid runner, enjoys camping, traveling and soccer (futebol).
Kendra grew up in Santa Cruz, CA where eating organic was always the norm. She worked her way through University in the costume world of professional theatre then drove across the country to start anew in NYC. She had an exciting career as a certified athletic trainer (not to be confused with a personal trainer) in the world of professional performing arts and is now a librarian focusing on urban gardening, regenerative agriculture, and reconciliation work. Kendra enjoys dance, camping, baking and all forms of textile arts.
Starting with a tiny garden plot and an even tinier NYC apartment, Hugo and Kendra have spent the past two decades experimenting with what can grow in all types of urban environments (even on tour!). Between a community garden plot and the local Farmers Market, they focus their cooking on seasonal ingredients. They are now living their greenest life nestled between the ocean and the mountains.
